The Need To Be Hold (see?)

Jean took the audience on a ‘poetic’ journey of her past and present projects. These included notions of the ‘erosion of the wild’ in Liverpool and how it is ‘difficult for people to talk’ about important issues. She touched on her experiences in flood devastated community in Skinningrove, where the disaster and responsibility were marginalised by the media and political process. This she compared this with Cuba, where relative poverty actually determines a better environment. Further exploration of the Skinningrove project identified our society’s political and industrial ‘contempt’ and the psychological effects this had on the community. Her arts projects provided the ‘means of proof of experience’, enabling the people to find closure and the ability to move on.
